College of Veterinary Medicine(CVM) of Sichuan Agricultural University formerly known as the Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Medicine Group established by Sichuan Higher Agricultural School in 1912.It is also one of the earliest departments of animal husbandry and veterinary medicine in China. Over the past hundred years,mainly through the development of animal husbandry and veterinary group, animal husbandry and veterinary department,veterinary department, animal science and technology college,in July 2007,it was established as the College of Veterinary Medicine,and in January 2015,according to the layout of “one school three areas”,it moved to Chengdu campus in Chengdu Sichuan.It consists of 5 teaching institutions(Department of Basic Veterinary Medicine,Department of Preventive Veterinary Medicine,Department of Clinical Veterinary Medicine,Department of Pharmacy,and Department of Animal and Plant Quarantine),11 research centers,2 veterinary teaching hospitals,1 unit at the deputy department level (Preventive Veterinary Research Institute),and 3 section-level management service institutions（Party Committee Office,Administrative Office,and Institute Office）.

     1、Majors:There are 4 key undergraduate majors including Veterinary Medicine,Animal and Plant Quarantine,Pharmacy as well as Pharmaceutical Preparation; among those,Veterinary Medicine is a national specialty,and is also included in the "National Excellent Agricultural and Forestry Talents Training Program"; there is a post-doctoral research station for veterinary medicine,a first-level discipline authorized by the doctoral degree of veterinary medicine,basic veterinary medicine,preventive veterinary medicine,veterinary medicine and veterinary medicine,and national key disciplines of preventive veterinary medicine and Sichuan provincinal key disciplines of veterinary medicine.

    2、Faculty:There are 102 teachers,including 31 professors,30 associate professors/associate researchers,28 doctoral supervisors,69 master's supervisors,1 national candidate for the "Hundred Million Talents Project",3 candidates for the new century excellent plan of the Ministry of Education,4 experts who enjoy special allowances from the State Council,8 academic and technical leaders in Sichuan Province,5 experts with outstanding contribution in Sichuan Province. The team of veterinary medicine was selected as the first batch of "National University Huang Danian Type Teacher Team"; and there are one national teaching team,two provincial teaching teams,one innovation team of Ministry of Education and Ministry of Agriculture,and three innovation teams of Sichuan Province.

     3、Basic situation of teaching:At present,there are 1,701 undergraduates in the college,with a ratio of students to teachers being 16.68 to 1; there is one national premium course and two provincial premium courses; there is a "National Animal Experimental Teaching Demonstration Center",a BSL-2 laboratory,SPF laboratory animal barrier system and a public laboratory research platform; In addition,the college has extensive exchanges or cooperation with more than 10 research institutes beyond the border of China such as Purdue University,Pasteur Institute of France,University of Perugia,Ministry of Agriculture and Environment of North Rhine-Westphalia,Griffith,Australia and Chung Hsing University,Taiwan.

    Students have won:the first prize in The National “Centre Cup” Animal Medicine Professional Skills Competition of University Students for four consecutive years,1 first prize in The “Eagle Cup” Small Animal Veterinarian Skills contest,a full sponsorship by the China Scholarship Council to study in the US under the “China-US Cooperative Training DVM Program” (the first person to be selected for the program in Southwest China). Students’ employment is effective,and the initial employment rate of graduates of all majors is over 99% in that year,the college's employment work has been awarded the title of Advanced Collective in School Employment Work for consecutive years (rank the first).

    4、In recent years,teachers of the college have successively won:2 first prizes,1 second prize of National Prize of Teaching Achievement;4 first prizes,3 second prizes of Teaching Achievement in Sichuan Province;1 grand prize,2 first prizes of University-level Teaching Achievement.Faculty were awarded:the grand prize of University-level Undergraduate Classroom Teaching Quality Award for four consecutive years;1 second prize,1 third prize of the National Technology Invention Award;1 second prize of National Science and Technology Progress Award;2 first prizes of the Ministry of Education Technology Invention Award;1 first prize of China Industry-University-Research Innovation Award;9 first prizes,more than 30 second prizes and third prizes of Sichuan Science and Technology Progress Award;1 national first-class new veterinary drug certificate and 2 second-class new veterinary drug certificates,and more than 200 National Invention Patents have been approved.The Party Committee of the College was awarded 1 Model Grass-roots Party Organization in Sichuan Province;1 Excellent Grassroots Project of the Central Committee of the Communist Youth League.Students' scientific and creative works won 25 national and provincial awards "Challenge Cup" and "Youth Creation" student entrepreneurship competition (2 national third-class awards,7 provincial gold awards,5 silver awards and 11 bronze awards).2 people won the top 100 national college student entrepreneurship heroes.
